This book (#44 in the Sovietica series) looks interesting not only for its numerous references to Hegel, but also its lack of any reference to "Thesis - Antithesis - Synthesis", other than to say:
Mao's notion of complementarity is different from any synthesis of thesis and antithesis... (p. 105)

The author was born in China, but was a professor at Boston College for many years. Making this a different experience for Western students of dialectic, there are also many references to the Yi Jing (I Ching), Daode Jing (Tao Te Ching), Zhuangzi (Chuang Tzu) and other classic books of Chinese philosophy.
